Aries (MAR. 21 – APR. 19)
Leslie Hale, psychic astrologer at Keen.com, shares that red is the color associated with Aries. "Since you're a bit devilish anyway, you may as well dress like one," she says, adding that otherwise, the Aries personality is bold, unconstrained and always ready for the next challenge. Another suggestion: Lady Gaga. "Lady Gaga is a pop icon who has overcome music industry doubters, chronic pain and mental health issues — despite all that she remains not only famous and successful, but also serves as a voice for many underserved communities and charities (and of course her iconic, over-the-top outfits always make the show)."
Taurus (APR. 20 – MAY 20)
Taurus is one of the signs ruled by Venus, aka the planet of luxury and beauty, so Nina Kahn, best-selling author and astrologer, points out that Halloween is the perfect excuse to get ultra glammed up if this is your star sign. "Indulge in some pampering by choosing a costume that requires an opulent outfit and head-turning makeup artistry." Hale's suggestion here is Aphrodite, the Goddess of love, beauty and eternal youth. "Taurus does not like to rush things, so it may take the better part of the day to create the look and get into the feeling of being adored by all," she says. "No one can say for sure exactly what Aphrodite looked like, but she is said to have blonde or auburn hair, loved jewelry and dressed eloquently — classical Greco-Roman images show her as typically draped in flowing gowns and wearing a girdle-like belt."
Gemini (MAY 21 – JUNE 20)
Kahn tells Lively that clever and quick-witted Geminis are the perfect candidates for pulling off a punny Halloween costume — like throwing a party hat on top of a furry onesie and calling yourself a party animal. "With all that classic Gemini spunk, they can make even the cheesiest pun costume entertaining, she says." Hale adds that Geminis are known as "the twins," aka you may exhibit dual personalities, so another clever idea could be to dress up as your "two sides." This can be accomplished with a double mask on the front and back of your head or with makeup. "Alternatively, Gemini is ruled by Mercury, and no one can talk quite like a Gemini, so dressing up as a TV host or emcee may suit you well — think your favorite TV host," Hale says.
Cancer (JUNE 21 – JULY 22)
If your zodiac sign is Cancer and you dare to venture out from home on Halloween, Narayana Montúfar, astrologer and author of Moon Signs: Unlock Your Inner Luminary Power (out this November), shares that comfort is key. "Cancer won't be the sign adorned in heavy, spooktastic makeup or a complex costume — instead, Cancerians should tap into their homey roots and perhaps dress up as a chef or baker on Halloween," she says. Kahn adds that Cancerians are one of the most nostalgic signs of the zodiac, so these water babies should take inspiration from the past when choosing a Halloween costume. "Stroll down memory lane by dressing up as a favorite childhood movie character or a vintage black-and-white movie starlet."
Leo (JULY 23 – AUG. 22)
Leo is ruled by the sun and Montúfar notes that Leos like to be the center of the universe (or at least everyone's attention), making Halloween a fun time to show off. "Leo is often associated with pleasure, confidence and creativity, so all aspects of Leo's charisma should be incorporated into an unforgettable costume," she says, and recommends tapping into some old Hollywood vibes with a feather boa, dramatic makeup and a slinky, sparkly dress. If you're a Leo and want to stick to true astrological themes, why not dress up as the literal sun? "It can either be a goofy costume for kicks and giggles, or you can opt to show up as a beautiful, gold-dipped god(dess)," Montúfar says. Hale adds that Madonna is one of the most famous Leo women of our time, so this costume idea might suit you well (and you’ll certainly have a variety of looks to choose from).
Virgo (AUG. 23 – SEPT. 22)
Did you know that Virgo is associated with work and health? While Montúfar points out this may sound somewhat boring, it is certainly possible to turn work and health into a catchy Halloween look! She elaborates: "Ruled by Mercury, Virgo is just as witty as Gemini, but tends to have a drier sense of humor, so why not combine the dry humor with work to pull off a costume from The Officeor Parks and Rec?" It's cute, quirky and a conversation starter! Khan adds that Virgos are also known to be quite down-to-earth which provides a fun opportunity to channel this earthbound nature into a costume like an earth goddess or perhaps create some pretty antlers to transform yourself into a gorgeous doe.
Libra (SEPT. 23 – OCT. 22)
"Since Libra gets the greatest joy from partnering with others, this sign is perfect for couples to dress in a joint or similar costume," shares Hale, so have fun pulling together a creative costume with your partner or BFF! Otherwise, Libra tends to represent "union, beauty and truth in astrology," mentions Montúfar, who highlights a few other ideas like a political or social justice figure, or perhaps drawing some inspo from Legally Blondefor a fun twist.
Scorpio (OCT. 23 – NOV. 21)
Ah, Scorpios — no one loves Halloween quite like these guys as Scorpios were born during the Halloween season. "Since Scorpio is connected to the 8th house of life’s mysteries, sex, transformations and death, this provides a wide range of costume ideas," shares Hale. "Scorpio is often thought of as a dark sign, so the grim reaper may suit you on this night." Ashely Cramer, a fully-initiated Pampamesayok shaman, mystical wellness entrepreneur and Founder of Lunar Alignment, a membership to all things lunar astrology, suggests "getting inspired by your favorite horror movie moments or perhaps opting for a classically creepy vampire or zombie look."
Sagittarius (NOV. 22 – DEC. 21)
"Sagittarrians are the travelers of the Zodiac and this one is a truth-seeking sign," notes Cramer, who recommends some fun costumes including Indiana Jones, James Bond and Carmen San Diego — all which can tap into your risk-taking, adventurous energy. If you're a Sagittarius, you may also be a bit of a party animal. "Sagittarians are known for their loud, boisterous energy and presence — one idea that comes to mind is the fun time and party-loving Greek God, Dionysus," adds Montúfar. One more suggestion from her is the classic cheesy, goofy tourist.
Capricorn (DEC. 22 – JAN. 19)
Hale shares that Capricorn is a "no-frills" type of sign and generally conservatively dressed — "think Kate Middleton who is a famous Capricorn and epitomizes the sign perfectly in both her dress and actions." She adds that Capricorn is a sign that loves tradition the most, so you could consider adding a royal-looking cape or tiara.
Aquarius (JAN. 20 – FEB. 18)
Aquarius is the sign associated with friendship and community. Enter: the group costume. "Aquarians should gather up their crew and get inspired by an iconic girl group like Spice Girls or a sultry superhero squad like Charlie's Angels," suggests Kahn. Additionally, Hale points out that Aquarians are known for their eccentric, if not funky, personalities, and Halloween is a night that should suit them perfectly. "Abraham Lincoln is one of the most famous male Aquarians and this can easily be accomplished with a dark suit and top hat."
