The Importance of Sustainability

A foundation to our organization, sustainability is as important to the fabric of Vital Proteins as the products we offer. Vital Proteins makes every effort to source all ingredients used in our products with minimal environmental impact, including two of our flagship products: Collagen Peptides and Marine Collagen.

Hear what Vital Proteins’ founder and CEO, Kurt Seidensticker, has to say.

GET TO KNOW VITAL’S MAIN SOURCES OF COLLAGEN

Our Collagen Peptides are sourced from the hide of Brazilian grass-fed cattle, predominantly the Nelore breed. These hides are a byproduct of the cattle industry, which means that the cattle are first used for their meat. At Vital Proteins, we are advocates of using the whole animal whenever possible, helping to reduce waste and improve sustainability.

Our Marine Collagen is sourced from red snapper scale from the South Pacific. The fish scales used in the production of Vital Proteins Marine Collagen is a wild harvested extract of Red Snapper. It’s a sustainable, natural by-product of the seafood industry that would otherwise be lost.
