How Hanging Upside Down (Seriously!) Helps Digital Designer Alexsandra Sanchez Reset

Welcome to The Vital Life where we spotlight Vital Proteins® employees. This week, our Digital Designer Alexsandra Sanchez gives us a look inside her remote workday.

Lively: Thanks for sharing your day with us! To kick things off, can you tell us about what you do at Vital Proteins and what you enjoy about your role?

Alexsandra Sanchez: I am a Digital Designer at Vital Proteins. I design various digital assets such as banner ads, social ads and our Amazon content. I genuinely enjoy designing for the Vital Proteins brand. I love our color palette on the variety of our products we have. Most importantly, I love that I get to collaborate with amazing and creative people, such as our photographers, video editors, and copywriters.

L: Walk us through your morning routine – how has it changed (or not) since staying home?

AS: I really appreciate the extra time I get from not having to commute. The more for myself I do before I start my work day, the better mood I’m in but to be honest, I probably only nail this perfect morning routine about two or three times a week.

I wake up and do some jogging. I find the best way to wake up my brain is with cardio. I head back home and it’s puppy time! I have a chihuahua and chihuahuas are prone to bad teeth so I brush her teeth daily. Then, I take her on a quick walk along the lake in Evanston. (This is my favorite place to go, because I usually run into neighbors with cute puppies.) Lastly, I make myself a smoothie. Lately I’ve been getting creative and mixing both the Vital Proteins® Matcha and Vital Proteins® Lemon Collagen Peptides in a banana pineapple smoothie and it’s amazing!

L: Where have you been getting inspiration for projects or tasks you might be working on throughout the day?

AS: Instagram! I follow mostly creatives on Instagram so if I do take a scrolling break I’m seeing tons of cool art. Even fine art can still inspire my digital projects. Maybe it’s the colors used, or the creative concept the artist chose. Or sometimes it just reminds me to stop thinking too hard.

L: You’re hitting your mid-afternoon slump. How do you re-energize your afternoon?

AS: You'll find me doing one of two things. One, I set my alarm for 15 minutes and lay down and close my eyes for some deep breathing. If I have a headache, this is especially helpful. Or two, I hang upside down! I practice aerial arts so I have an aerial hammock in my living room and I find hanging outside down wakes up my brain and re-centers me.

L: How have you been practicing #wellnessfromhome these days?

AS: I’ve been trying to stand more while I work! My dog can be a bit clingy so sometimes I stand while holding her in her carrier bag and it actually helps me stand way longer! (I know, we are ridiculous!)
