Welcome to The Vital Life, where we spotlight Vital Proteins employees. This week, staff accountant Reid Burgess gives us a peek inside his day.
Normally, my day starts off early in the morning around 6 A.M. The first thing I like to do is make a collagen-infused drink consisting of water, Matcha Collagen, and our Collagen Veggie Blend. I started using these products when I first started working at Vital Proteins back in September, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back. It’s light, energizing, and easy to make.
Combining our Matcha Collagen with our Collagen Veggie Blend provides me with a healthy serving of veggies and fruits, as well as L-theanine, an amino acid that delivers an "alert calm" in users that is found in matcha. This superfood beverage gives me the focus and calmness I need to work efficiently.
My mornings are always spent with a nice walk around Ravenswood with my dog as well as working on producing music – a passion of mine. When it’s time for work, I head for the Metra.
My work day consists of meetings, spreadsheets, and bank statements. Although this might sound terrible, my great friends on the finance team make everything enjoyable. Around lunch, I head to the gym to work out with our personal trainer, Dan Caron. After that, it’s back to keeping Vital Proteins current on bill payments and reconciling accounts (still not as bad as it sounds).
When I get home from work, I take my dog to the park to play fetch and meet other people’s dogs. When she's all tired out, I head home and boot up the computer to work on music for the rest of my night. It’s around this time that I make myself another Matcha/Veggie Blend drink to achieve the same focus that I have in the mornings. To counteract that energy before bed, I’ll have a Sleep Collagen Shot to settle down and relax before doing it all over again the following day.
