Welcome to The Vital Life, where we spotlight Vital Proteins® employees. This week, Vice President of Human Resources, Marisa Meadows, gives us a look inside a WFH day.

Lively: Thanks for sharing your day with us, Marisa! To kick things off, can you tell us about what you do at Vital Proteins and what you enjoy about your role?

Marisa Meadows: I’m the Vice President of Human Resources. At Vital, I have a fun job where no two days are ever the same. Every day, I get the opportunity to build on an amazing concept and create an engaging, fun and challenging work environment where people thrive. One of the most challenging and best jobs I’ve ever had — It’s because I work with some pretty amazing people!

Lively: Walk us through your morning routine – how has it changed (or not) since staying home?

MM: Not much has changed with my morning routine – oddly enough! I typically rise around 5 a.m. and immediately check emails, then take my dog, Cinnamon, out for a walk. After that, I start the day with peach-flavored water mixed with Unflavored Collagen Peptides. It’s my favorite! 

Lively: Where have you been getting inspiration for projects or tasks you might be working on throughout the day?

MM: I get inspiration from Vital’s #wellnessfromhome campaign on the ‘gram. Also, there are so many inspiring stories and messages on social media (including adorable puppy videos – thanks, Tucker Budzyn!!) and those moments of levity really help me to stay focused.

Lively: Lunchtime! What’s your plan?

MM: Before working remotely, I usually would take a break from work by taking a quick walk over to Beatrix in Fulton Market and hit the salad bar. Now, working remotely, I saunter into the kitchen and actually make my own lunch every day. I’m finally getting to break in my new stove….that I bought a year ago.

Lively: You’re hitting your mid-afternoon slump. How do you re-energize your afternoon?

MM: I live on the 12th floor and so to get some exercise, I’ve been incorporating walking up and down those 12 flights of stairs every afternoon! Then, I usually have an orange or grapefruit along with Blueberry Mint Collagen Water™- so refreshing!

Lively: How have you been practicing #wellnessfromhome these days?

MM: Every morning, I scroll through my contacts and send a text message or LinkedIn message to someone that I haven’t spoken in a while. It’s been really nice to re-connect and know that we are all in this together!
